Why Is McDonald’s Coffee So Hot?

There’s nothing worse than looking forward to a delicious coffee, no matter what time of day it is. This experience can be the highlight of people’s day. This can quickly be ruined by sipping on a coffee that is way too hot, resulting in a burnt tongue.

Coffees normally come at a hot temperature, which allows them to last longer before being too cold to drink. Coffee also has a recommended temperature that it should be served at. This temperature ensures that no danger is caused to the customer and that they can spend time drinking it, instead of gulping it all down straight away.

McDonald’s coffee is known for being hot, even by the standards of other coffee chains. In fact, the coffee is served at a temperature of 180-190 degrees Fahrenheit, which is significantly hotter than the recommended temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

There are a few reasons why McDonald’s coffee is so hot. One reason is that the company wants to ensure that the coffee stays hot for as long as possible. This is important because many McDonald’s customers order coffee to go, and they want to be able to enjoy it at the same temperature when they arrive at their destination.

Another reason why McDonald’s coffee is so hot is that the company believes that it tastes better when it is hot. The higher temperature helps to extract more flavour from the coffee beans, resulting in a richer and more flavourful cup of coffee.

However, the high temperature of McDonald’s coffee has also been the subject of controversy. In 1994, Stella Liebeck was awarded $2.7 million in damages after she spilled hot coffee from a McDonald’s cup on her lap, causing third-degree burns. The case drew attention to the issue of the high temperature of McDonald’s coffee, and it led the company to change its policies regarding the serving temperature of coffee.

McDonalds aren’t the only example of this either, other huge brands like Starbucks for example have had lawsuits filed against them for similar incidents.

Today, McDonald’s coffee is still served at a temperature of 180-190 degrees Fahrenheit. However, the company has taken steps to make the coffee cups more durable and to warn customers about the hot temperature of the coffee.

Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying that McDonald’s coffee is hot. And while the high temperature of the coffee has been the source of some controversy, it’s also one of the things that makes McDonald’s coffee unique.

But who does the blame belong to in incidents like this? Should we, as customers, be more careful when it comes to drinking hot drinks? Should we actually appreciate what McDonalds are trying to do? They are trying to give buyers more time to enjoy their coffee. They understand people like to take their coffees away with them, therefore they serve them at such soaring temperatures so that they have time to drive off somewhere and still enjoy it.

Or should there be a temperature limit and if that means that coffees go cold quicker, then so be it.
